BUILDSPACE is an EU project envisioning a sustainable and resilient future. To achieve its quest in full potential, the project engaged more than 100 external stakeholders in co-creation sessions, laying the groundwork for the project’s co-design phase and the stakeholders’ active involvement throughout the whole duration of the project. As collaboration and stakeholder engagement are essential drivers of innovation, this co-creation process aimed to involve stakeholders in the initial design phase of the services, to ensure that the project results are of interest for them, easy-to-use and valuable for their day-to-day undertakes, solving some of their daily “pains”. As a result, a strong community has been established, interested in the sustainability of buildings and cities around Europe, prioritizing environment in decision-making.
Two online co-creation sessions were organized to understand the needs of active stakeholders and tailor the service-offering based on current issues. These sessions gathered various types of stakeholders across Europe, in which insights and ideas were gathered, crossing boundaries between disciplines and cultures. One of the highlights of the sessions was witnessing the collaborative potential unfold. Participants actively engaged in the discussions, exploring potential features and functionalities that BUILDSPACE can offer to meet their needs. Their enthusiasm and commitment to driving change was truly inspiring in the process of the project. The sessions' interactive nature, facilitated through innovative tools and platforms, encouraged open dialogue and fostered a sense of collective ownership.
The input collected in these sections was carefully processed to define the functionalities and visualization of the BUILDSPACE services, as well as the technical use cases based on users’ needs and challenges.
This co-creation process was also an opportunity for BUILDSPACE to create a dynamic platform for collaboration and synergy between the project and other EU projects and initiatives, establishing strong links and relations.
